The Dreams’s Thorn

In our artificial intelligence subject, we had this project wherein we tried to make a robot and control its directions as it moves. The robot can actually change its direction depending on which way he can possibly go as soon as he finds a barrier or a wall along its way and it can go anywhere as loong as it is still on range for our remote controller. We were using a camera and attached it to our robot to serve as its vision and this helps the robot to determine if he is already facing a barrier or not. When the robot captures certain images, the program we created will send signals directly to the parallel port relay board which is directly connected to our circuit system attached to the remote of the robot. With the program, the movement of the robot is simply controlled by the remote as it continues to move forward but changes its course only if needed. We really considered the project at the very beginning to be really hard for all of us especially that we started it from scratch and it took us months before we were really able to do the project and is already working properly. Being part of the team, I am really very proud for this project that we had considering the fact that it is quite hard and we did not used integrated circuits to do the processing for us. Our adviser in this project has been so proud of us because of this achievement that we were able to finish the project on time and a this made them appreciate all our efforts.
