Last Prince

I was on my way to bed last night and dropped by the kitchen to get a last glass of cold water before turning in when I overheard my parents discussing plans for the annual family trip, so I eagerly joined them on the kitchen table and pitched in some ideas that they can also consider. When we were younger, these family trips used to be a very good excuse for my father, an advertising executive who usually puts in more than the requisite forty hours on the job, and my stay at home mother, to just relax and recharge for around two weeks in the summer while us kids enjoyed the reprieve from school work and the endless extra curricular activities we all were usually involved in during the course of the school year. They started to bring us to more exotic places far from home when we got a bit older to introduce us to locales that were different from the ones we were accustomed to, and the trips not only were fun but informative as well. Most times it takes months for them to come up with the itinerary, but surprising us once a couple years ago, they suddenly decided on signing up for the myanmar tours that became one of the most memorable trips we have had as a family. The promise of historic monuments, lush jungles and pristine beaches must have been the lure, as there seemed to be enough activities that the family as a group would enjoy, and each member as individuals would find interesting, and sure enough we did have a lot of fun when we visited the golden land.
